A design is a complete look for your payment form — layout, fonts and colors — that works on phones, on desktop and inside an embed without any setup. MoonClerk comes with 25 designs plus Classic, the original MoonClerk form. The designs recommended for your type of business are shown first, and you can switch designs as often as you like; the layout and fonts of each design are fixed, and you add your logo and accent color on top. To build a look from scratch instead, see how to design themes.
Picking a design during setup
When you set up your account ("Let's get paid"), step 2 shows your form in the designs recommended for what you told us you collect payments for. On a phone, swipe through the previews and tap Choose; on a desktop, click a tile under Pick a look. Your form uses that design right away, and you can change it later from the Themes page.
Changing the design from the Themes page
1) Click on the Themes button in your account's main navigation, then open the theme your form uses (or click Create Theme).
2) Under Design you will see the design the theme uses. A new theme starts on the design recommended for your type of business.
3) Click on Change design to see the other designs.
4) Click a tile. The designs recommended for your type of business are listed first, with the recommended one marked; All designs shows the rest, and Classic is always the first tile if you want the original MoonClerk form back. The preview beside the tiles updates as you click.
5) Under Make it yours, add your logo and pick an accent color. Each design comes with five accent colors chosen to work with it (or click Own to use your own); the accent is used for the button and the selected amount. Custom CSS still applies on top of a design for small adjustments.
6) Click on Save. Every form that uses this theme switches to the new design immediately, including forms embedded on your website.
Once you have changed the logo or accent color, the theme shows "Modified from" the design's name with a Reset link that takes it back to the design's own settings.
Changing the design from the form builder
1) Open the form in the form builder (click the vertical ellipsis ⋮ next to it on the Forms page and choose Edit).
2) Click the vertical ellipsis ⋮ at the top of the builder and choose Theme.
3) The Theme panel lists the same designs, grouped the same way, and the checkout preview updates as you click. Click a design to apply it — there is no separate save step. See how to apply a theme to a payment form for the rest of the Theme panel.
Good to know
Nothing changes on a form until you pick a design, so existing forms keep their current look. A design's layout and fonts cannot be changed; if you need full control of the layout, use Classic with custom CSS. Designs carry into embedded forms, and a few (Aurora and Obsidian) bring their own background color into the embed — pick a lighter design if you want the embed to blend into your page.
