How do I set up MoonClerk on my phone?

For accounts on the new MoonClerk dashboard design.

Written by Amitabh Tewari

If you open your new MoonClerk account on a phone, setup runs as a short series of screens made for a small screen — one question at a time, with the same three steps as on a desktop: build your form, add a card, connect Stripe. Everything you enter is saved as you go, so you can stop at any point and carry on later, on your phone or on a computer.

Starting setup

1) Sign in on your phone and tap Start setup on your dashboard. (If you have already begun, the button says Continue setup and takes you back to where you left off.)

Step 1 of 3 — Your form

2) Tap what you collect payments for, then tap Continue.

3) Enter the amount and how often it is charged — or let your payers choose. Tap Name it something else to give the form your own name. You can change all of this later in the form builder.

4) On Here's your form, swipe through the previews to see your form in each design and tap Choose on the one you like. The designs recommended for your type of business come first, and you can change the design later — see how to pick a design for your payment form.

5) Tap Add your logo, just below the preview, to upload a PNG, JPG or GIF up to 2 MB. On a smaller phone, scroll down a little to find it. Your logo shows on the form straight away.

Step 2 of 3 — Add a card

6) Enter the card for your MoonClerk subscription. Your plan starts when the card is saved: $18 for the first month, then from $18 a month based on the previous month's payment volume, and you can cancel at any time. If a free first month is offered to you, it is applied automatically and the screen shows $0 for your first month; if you have a partner code, tap Change next to the applied offer (or Have a code?) to enter it instead.

Step 3 of 3 — Connect Stripe

7) Tap Connect Stripe. Stripe opens in the same tab, takes about five minutes, and pays you directly — it asks for a few details, like a bank would.

8) Under the button, Here's what you'll need lists those details. Switch between Just me and Company or nonprofit to see your list:

Just me: your legal name and date of birth as on your ID, your home address (no PO boxes), the last four digits of your Social Security number (Stripe checks identity, not credit, and may ask for the full number), and the routing and account number of the bank account for your payouts.

Company or nonprofit: the organization's legal name, EIN, address and phone; your own details as its representative; the name and email of any owner with 25% or more; and the bank account for payouts.

9) Not ready? Tap Email me this list and finish later. We send the list once, with a link back to this step, and your form and card stay saved.

10) When Stripe is done, you're live: your form link is on screen with Copy and Share buttons. If Stripe is still reviewing your details, your dashboard reads Connected · Stripe reviewing — there is nothing more to do. Reviews usually take less than a day; we email you the moment it clears and your form goes live by itself.

Switching between your phone and a computer

Your progress is shared. Sign in on a computer and click Continue setup on the dashboard to carry on from the same step; the screens look a little different on a larger screen, but the steps and what you have entered are the same. Need a hand at any point? Tap Need help? Chat with Tara on the card or Stripe step to message us.
