How do you determine who receives a pre-qualified offer?
Eligibility is determined based on a combination of factors, including overall sales volume and history with MoonClerk. Eligible US businesses will receive an email and a notification in their MoonClerk dashboard if they have a pre-qualified offer available. All financing applications are subject to review prior to approval.
What types of financing are offered?
Each pre-qualified offer specifies the type of financing being offered, which might be a loan or a merchant cash advance. You can’t request a particular financing type under the Stripe Capital program.
Merchant cash advance: a purchase of a merchant’s future receivables by YouLend. It’s not a loan or credit transaction. Purchased receivables are withheld from your payment processing volume at the percentage specified in the YouLend Advance Agreement. Unlike a loan, there’s no fixed payment schedule or periodic debits; your payments vary with your processing volume.
Loans: business-purpose term loans are issued by Celtic Bank to eligible businesses. These loans have a maximum term and periodic payments. If withholdings from your payment processing receivables don’t meet a minimum amount (typically on a 30 or 60-day basis), shortfalls are debited from a linked bank account.
Do I have to pay interest?
No, you’ll pay one flat fee that doesn’t change. You won’t pay any interest on top of this fee.
Will applying for a pre-qualified offer affect my personal credit rating?
Applying for financing through Stripe Capital might require a personal credit check under some circumstances, but this credit check doesn’t impact your personal credit score. If a personal credit check is required you’ll be notified during the application process. All pre-qualified offers are determined based on a number of factors, including order volume and your history of orders through MoonClerk.
Can I request a different amount from my pre-qualified offer?
When you log into your MoonClerk dashboard, you can use a slider to choose a custom amount (up to the maximum pre-qualified offer amount). The flat fee and payment rate adjust based on the amount you choose.
When do I need to pay the flat fee?
You’ll automatically pay the flat fee through a percentage of your sales until the total amount financed is paid. The fee isn’t charged up front.
How does payment work?
Stripe Capital financing is generally paid through withholding from your payment processing receivables at the rate specified in your financing agreement, which means you pay more when business is busy and less if things slow down. For loans, there are periodic minimum payments and a maximum term: if you took out a loan, you’ll have a minimum amount due toward your loan every repayment period.
For loans, what’s a minimum payment?
For loans, a minimum payment is the minimum amount due every repayment period. That period is determined during underwriting and based on your pre-qualified loan offer. If your automatic payments don’t meet this minimum, the remaining amount will be debited at the end of the period. You can view your minimum payment amount in the Dashboard or in your loan agreement.
For loans, how do I make my minimum payment?
If the payments deducted from your sales cover the minimum payment for the repayment period, no action is taken. If you haven’t met the minimum payment amount by the end of the repayment period, for loans, Stripe will automatically debit your bank account or account balance for the amount needed to meet your minimum payment. There’s no action needed on your part.
After I accept a pre-qualified offer, how quickly will I get my funds?
If your application is approved, you’ll typically see the funds in your bank account in as soon as 2 business days. To make sure funds are disbursed successfully, you must set a valid bank account as your primary payout method.
Can I have my funds paid out to a card?
We currently don’t support disbursal of funds to a card. To make sure funds are disbursed successfully, you must set a valid bank account as your primary payout method.
What happens when my pre-qualified offer expires?
Each pre-qualified offer is available for 30 days. After that point, your business will automatically be re-evaluated to see if you’re eligible for an additional pre-qualified offer.
Can I make an additional payment or pay the total amount financed in full?
Yes, you can make additional payments or pay the total amount financed in full at any point from your Dashboard. There are no additional fees for early payment.
Will paying early qualify me for a new pre-qualified offer?
After you pay the total amount financed, we’ll automatically evaluate you for a new pre-qualified offer. Paying early doesn’t automatically qualify you for a new pre-qualified offer.
How should I report these funds on my taxes?
Tax reporting depends on your specific situation, so we encourage you to talk with a tax advisor. In general, Stripe Capital funds wouldn’t be considered taxable income at the time of receipt, and the amounts withheld as payment toward the financing aren’t tax deductible.
What can I use MoonClerk Capital financing for?
MoonClerk Capital financing is for business purposes and can be used to help cover eligible business expenses.
